The holiday was absolutely fantastic
The holiday was absolutely fantastic; I cannot recommend it enough. We were cautioned from the very outset that there was no guarantee we would see the Northern Lights and I think this was fair as our expectations were realistic. However, we did see the Northern Lights on two evenings out of six. That said the activities and culture of Inari meant the holiday meant so much more than just the
Northern Lights. Yes, it would have been disappointing if we had not seen them but not a complete disaster as the activities would have made up for it somewhat. I really enjoyed the dog sledging; it was fast paced I really couldn't believe that they let me take control of a sledge on my own!! It was a little scary as I hadn't done anything like that before but they were really clear with the instructions and reassuring that the dogs knew where they were going. I would really like to thank the staff at the Kultahovi Hotel for making us feel most welcome. The food there is outstanding and the staff are keen to talk to you about its origins, local customs and make recommendations both food and activity wise. The room was excellent and very well maintained throughout our trip. The guides for the snowmobiling and particularly the snowshoe excursion were excellent - very helpful, informative (about everything from local nature, culture and Aurora). I would especially like to thank the snowshoe guide who extended our excursion slightly so we could take in the Northern Lights even though he had already done a very long day's work and it delayed us. He remained positive and seemed to understand that it wasn't something we witnessed every day.
