About Iceland

Iceland allows you to combine an incredible number of natural wonders in a short space of time. It is almost unfair that one country has volcanoes, glaciers, hot springs and a great Aurora record!

The list of bucket list experiences available on this northerly island is staggering and we have tried to incorporate as many as we possibly can into our dedicated Aurora hunting holidays in Iceland.

We know that there are often adverts showcasing cheap deals to Reykjavik for Aurora hunting, but trust us, you get what you pay for. Reykjavik is a wonderful city and a must-see, but the light pollution of the capital is no place for Northern Lights viewing. So, whilst holidays will show you the bright city lights, we will also take you well away from them in order to hunt the Aurora.

Together with our local team, we offer a range of dedicated Aurora holidays, each with its own style, so you can choose the trip that suits you and your bucket list best. You can search on land, on sea, from a super jeep or from a hot tub; the choice is entirely yours.

Not as icy as you think...

Icelanders have a saying that ‘if you don’t like the weather, wait five minutes’ and never have truer words been spoken. The weather here can be changeable, and so you can have snow, sun, rain, and clear skies all within a short time. You need to be flexible in your approach here, but the guides are more than used to Iceland’s four seasons in one day experience.

It has a surprisingly temperate climate (the Gulf Stream helps this island stay much warmer than its name suggests) with average temperatures in Reykjavík in winter being just below freezing.

Our holidays in Iceland follow the Aurora season, and so they kick off in late September/early October and are available until the end of March. Iceland is not the destination for those of you who want a snow-covered, winter wonderland with dog sledding and reindeer; it leaves those attractions to Finland, Sweden, and Norway. Iceland is all about some of nature’s greatest spectacles, and as none of those are reliant on snow cover, you can catch the early Auroras without missing out on other highlights.

Our holidays focus on some key areas of the country, each of which offers an unforgettable experience. Reykjavik, of course, is a must-see, as is South Shore, and the famous Golden Circle (the trio of the geysers, Gulfoss waterfall, and Thingvellir National Park) is popular for a very good reason.

Land of fire, ice, and Northern Lights

There are some remarkable Northern Lights experiences to be had in Iceland.

During our Natural Wonders and Northern Lights holiday, you can experience an exceptional Aurora hunt in a super jeep! Your expert guide will link into their network of Aurora hunting friends and will use the latest forecasts to lead the hunt for the lights. This holiday also combines time at Hotel Ranga where you can witness glaciers and volcanoes during the day and watch the night sky from the comfort of an outdoor hot tub later at night.

Our Northern Lights at the New Year holiday has a fairly self-explanatory title. This four-night break means you combine cosmopolitan Reykjavik with Aurora hunts away from the city lights at night and see in the New Year somewhere extraordinary.
