As the Northern Lights are a natural phenomenon, sightings can never be guaranteed, but both excursions are designed to maximise your chances of experiencing this unforgettable display.

Itinerary
Upon arrival at Keflavík International Airport, meet your private driver and begin your Icelandic adventure with a visit to the world-famous Blue Lagoon which is only a short 10-minute drive from the airport.
Surrounded by dramatic lava fields, the warm, mineral-rich geothermal waters provide the perfect opportunity to relax after your flight. Families can unwind in the soothing waters while enjoying one of Iceland’s most iconic experiences. Your comfort level entry pass includes a towel, use of a locker, a mud mask and a non-alcoholic drink. The recommended time for the full experience at the blue lagoon is around 2 hours.
After your visit, continue by private transfer to Reykjavík and check into your hotel.
This evening, take a stroll along Reykjavík’s beautiful waterfront. During the winter months, and when conditions are favourable, the Northern Lights can sometimes be seen dancing above Faxaflói Bay, creating a magical display of green and white light over the coastline and surrounding mountains.

This morning, head to Reykjavík’s Old Harbour for an unforgettable whale-watching excursion. Cruise into Faxaflói Bay in search of minke whales, humpback whales, dolphins and porpoises while enjoying spectacular views of Iceland’s dramatic coastline. Please be advised whale sightings are never guaranteed and that while more commonly spotted in the summer months, there is still a chance to see them (and some beautiful scenery) during the winter months. The duration of this trip is around 3-4 hours.
Later, experience the incredible FlyOver Iceland attraction. Using motion technology, special effects and breathtaking aerial footage, you’ll feel as though you’re soaring above Iceland’s glaciers, volcanoes, waterfalls and rugged landscapes. This experience lasts for around 40 minutes and a specific entry time would need to be discussed with your travel specialist at time of booking to fit in with the rest of your plans for the day.
This evening has been left for you to do as you please. Families may wish to join an optional Northern Lights Boat Cruise, sailing away from the city lights into the darkness of the bay for a chance to witness the aurora reflected on the ocean beneath the stars – please see our Personalise section for full details. Alternatively, why not take a stroll along Reykjavik’s shoreline walk; hopefully the Aurora will make an appearance tonight.
Please be advised that the whale watching excursion includes a convenient pickup service from your hotel or the nearest designated bus stop, which will be a short walk away with transportation provided to Reykjavík’s Old Harbour. Flyover Iceland is located approximately a 45-minute walk from Reykjavík city centre, making it easily accessible for most visitors. Alternatively, taxis can be arranged through your hotel reception should you prefer not to walk. We would suggest experiencing whale watching and fly over Iceland alongside each other with time for lunch in the old town in-between.

Begin at Perlan, where interactive exhibits bring Iceland’s unique environment to life. Walk through a real indoor ice cave, learn about glaciers and volcanoes, and experience the immersive Northern Lights exhibition, offering insight into the science and folklore behind this remarkable natural phenomenon.
Later, venture into one of Iceland’s remarkable lava tunnels. Explore vast underground chambers formed by ancient volcanic eruptions and discover the powerful geological forces that shaped the island. For this experience you will be picked up and dropped off either at your hotel or at the nearest bus stop which may be a short walk away. This experience will last for around 3 hours.
In the evening, witness the spectacular Lava Show, where real molten lava is poured before your eyes, recreating the incredible power of a volcanic eruption. This experience lasts around 1 hour and is located very close to the fly over Iceland experience therefore is around 45-minute walk from Hotel Klettur or 20 minutes from the old harbour. For those wanting to maximise their chances of seeing the Aurora, an optional Super Jeep Northern Lights Hunt can be arranged. Travelling beyond the city into the Icelandic countryside, expert guides search for the clearest skies and best viewing conditions, offering an unforgettable opportunity to watch the Northern Lights dancing across the night sky. Please be advised that both the Perlan Museum and the Lava Show are located just outside Reykjavík city centre. They can be reached on foot in approximately 30-45 minutes, or taxis can be easily arranged through your hotel reception. The Lava Tunnel tour includes shared return transfers from Reykjavík, which are included as part of your excursion.
