Your journey begins with a classic Golden Circle tour, showcasing Iceland's most iconic sights. Witness the power of Strokkur as it erupts in a steamy column of water, marvel at the geological wonder of Thingvellir National Park where two tectonic plates collide, and unwind in the soothing geothermal waters of a secret lagoon, a hidden gem far from the crowds. With Iceland's minimal light pollution and favourable location beneath the auroral oval, your chances of seeing the elusive Aurora Borealis are maximised. To round off this exceptional trip, you'll have time to explore Reykjavik, the world's northernmost capital. This is an independent tour; you will be briefed ahead of departure with all the details and documents you need but will not have a guide throughout.
Itinerary
Upon arrival at Reykjavik airport, hop on the Iceland Fly Bus, easily located just outside of the terminal. Along the way, the bus will stop at several drop-off points in Reykjavik.
There is also the option to upgrade to a private airport transfer, if you prefer, please speak to our Travel Experts at the time of booking.
Hotel Reykjavik Centrum is ideally situated in the heart of the old city so you can explore the culinary delights that the capital has to offer.
Alternatively, you can upgrade your stay to Hotel Alda, located on Reykjavik’s main shopping street, Laugavegur. Please speak to the Travel Experts at Aurora Zone for a quote.
This evening, take the time to settle in and explore your surroundings. Reykjavik is home to many of Iceland’s best restaurants, so be sure to try the local food culture.

Today following breakfast, you have a free morning to spend as you please in Reykjavik before heading down to the old harbour for an afternoon of whale watching. There are many different species in the waters here such as minke whales, humpback whales, white-beaked dolphins and harbour porpoises so fingers crossed you will get some good sightings. The boat trip is also a fantastic chance to look back at the city and Iceland’s impressive landscape. You will be out for approximately three hours.
Back on land, you will enjoy a delicious three course meal* at one of our favourite restaurants in Reykjavik before heading out for a Northern Lights hunt this evening. If you prefer, you can rearrange the dinner for your last night instead.
Make your way to the bus stop where your guide will welcome you and a small group of travellers on-board the bus. Your guide will check the local weather and Aurora forecast to travel in the best direction and maximise your chances of seeing a Northern Lights display. Along the way, you will learn more about the science behind the Aurora and if conditions are right, the green dancing ribbons of light will hopefully be visible.
*Please note that drinks are not included in the price and should be paid for separately on the evening.

Following breakfast, take the short walk to the bus stop to start your bus tour of the famous Golden Circle route, taking in some of the country’s most famous natural wonders. You will see the Strokkur geyser shoot steaming water many metres into the air, the powerful Gullfoss Waterfall (The Golden Falls) and Thingvellir National Park where the Eurasian and American tectonic plates meet. The bus tour ends at a secret lagoon where you can enjoy a luxurious soak in a geothermal pool.
Your bus will return to Reykjavik at approximately 5pm and you will have a free evening to spend as you please.

Today following breakfast, you will visit the Sky Lagoon, a relaxing geothermal spa surrounded by superb volcanic landscape. Take the Fly Bus to visit the must-see attraction and bathe in the mineral-rich waters.
This evening, make your way down to the old harbour for a special Northern Lights tour out at sea. Stepping onboard the boat, you will head away from the city lights and into darker skies – if conditions are favourable, you will see any displays from a unique vantage point.
