The snow-laden forests, frozen marshlands and deep, powdery snow can be explored on snowmobiles, cross-country skis and snowshoes. Just across the road, you'll find the Apukka dog sledding team for an adventurous expedition out into the wilds and local reindeer who can take you out on a wonderfully peaceful sleigh ride.
As night falls, Apukka sits far enough away from the city lights to offer dark skies and great Northern Lights viewing potential. The resort makes the most of this by offering a variety of ways to search for the celestial light show. You could travel on the innovative Snowtrain, by car, dog sled and even a snowmobile ride under the starry skies.

Please note, that most activities start just a walk away from your accommodation. You will need to cross a road, but a guide will be with you at all times to help you cross. Vehicles do pass along this main road, however, it is not a busy route.

Dog sledding is one of the most sought-after Arctic experiences and you’ll soon see why when you step onto the sled and embark a 5-10km safari (depending on weather and snow conditions).
Before you set off, the local expert musher will give you a full safety briefing and instructions on how to drive a dog sled.
Upon your return, you’ll have time to thank the dogs and take some photos with your loyal team. The expert musher can also answer any questions you may have about these wonderful animals.
